Turbine Engine Room

Electric Engine Room Reciprocating Engine Room

The centre propeller was driven by a turbine of the Parsons type, taking exhaust steam from the reciprocating engines. It could develop 16,000 shaft horsepower at 165 r.p.m. The main condensers received the exhaust steam from the turbine, or directly from the reciprocating engines when the turbine was not in use. Also present in this room was much of the auxiliary machinery.
